Is the grass really greener on the other side of the
fence? Is life really better in another
person’s shoes? Are you really so
unhappy that you’d be willing to sacrifice your family, friends, and future for
what appears to be greener grass? What
if, once you get there, it’s not even grass at all…what if it’s artificial
turf? What if you gamble and lose
everything for what’s not real?
Someone said, “The grass may be greener on the other side of
the fence but it’s just as hard to cut.”
Once you’ve thrown it all away for the greener grass that’s actually no
greener, you’re left with nothing. What
will it profit a person if they gain the world and lose their family?
The writer of Proverbs gave us something to think about… “Ponder the path of your feet. Let all your
ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left. Remove your foot
from evil.” Reminds me of something
else I heard about greener grass; "The grass is not greener on the other side of
the fence – It’s greener where you water it.”
Proverbs 5:15 says, “Drink water
from your own cistern.” In other words, if you want greener grass you should
stay on your side of the fence, get out the garden hose and start watering. Stop wanting what you can't have and be thankful for what you do have.
