Not many people have a friend named Arvid. I don't know of anybody else with that name. Well, I have a good friend named Arvid and I've never met another person like him. We've been good friends for close to thirty years.
Back in the fall of 1985, Arvid was the guy who told me that Crystal wasn't dating anyone and that I should ask her out. He also gave me a picture of Crystal...one that Crystal had given him. He went back and told her he needed another picture because he gave the other one to me. I took his advice - Crystal and I went out on our first official date on October 5, 1985. It has proven to be one of the best days of my life.
I have many stories to tell about Arvid. More stories than I can share right now. Maybe later in another blog. This is what I want to tell you about Arvid today and ask a favor. Arvid was diagnosed with ALS about three years ago. Would you pray for Arvid? Pray first of all for a miracle and second for doctors to find a cure. Either one would be wonderful.
I visited with Arv this morning. As I pulled out of his drive, my mind was flooded with memories and my heart with emotions. I thought the least I could do is tell people about Arvid...about the friend he's been for all these years...and ask you to pray for him. I hope you will.
