I heard about a man who talked with his pastor about a temptation he was struggling with.  He was tempted with a beautiful lady who sat near the water fountain where he worked.  Every time he went to get a drink he was tempted with thoughts and feelings he shouldn’t be having.  The preacher had one bit of advice: Stop going to the water fountain.  That’s a good word… Many of the decisions we make that either draw us close to God or pull us away are common sense.  Change the channel.  Look away.  Don’t say it.  Don’t repeat it.  Don’t buy it. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just stay away from the water fountain.

…..Years ago I heard a message by pastor Jack Hyles entitled, Acknowledge Him.  That message proved to be a turning point for my life.  Based on Proverbs 3:6, he inspired and encouraged me to acknowledge God in everything.  He also helped me see a fence down the middle of that verse.  One side of the fence is God’s and the other is mine.  I can’t do God’s job and He can’t do mine.  The fence that Pastor Hyles helped me see is divided between, “In all your ways acknowledge Him,” and, “He will direct your paths.”  My job is to acknowledge Him.  His job is to guide my paths.  I’ve never forgotten that…  There have been times, however,  when I tried to do God’s job.  Maybe I didn’t like where His path was taking me.  Maybe I didn’t like the road ahead.  In either case, I had decided that I knew better than God.  I have learned, in big decisions or in small, I do well to stay on my side of the fence.

I hope you’re doing well.  2019 is going great!  Here it is mid-May and almost mid-2019.  I am thankful for the busy and blessed preaching schedule the Lord has given me.  Every open door is an opportunity to see a life changed and a church revived.  I’m pressing on… 

Adrian Rogers said:

Be faithful in the small things. If you'll be faithful in the small things, the big things will take care of themselves. The big things in life are made up of little acts, little words, and little thoughts. Use integrity in the small things.    Be faithful in the secret things. What you are in secret is what you are. I'm talking to those who travel a lot and go into motels…Nobody's in there but you and Jesus. There are many things done in secret that no one would ever know.  Be faithful in the secret things.   Be faithful in the sacred things. Be faithful to meet with God. Do you know how to have faithfulness? Not by resolution, not by gritting your teeth, but by abiding in Him. Come to Him; be committed to Him; surrender to Him; yield to Him; and God will make you faithful.

Michael Mason Ministries April 2019 Newsletter

I hope you’re doing well.  2019 is going great and looking to be an amazing year in ministry.  El Salvador was a success. While I was there, I taught seminary classes each day and preached in a restaurant on Monday and in two churches on Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Was a good week.  Thanks for your prayers and financial support that allowed me to go.  

Elizabeth Elliot said, “Spiritual strongholds begin with a thought.  One thought becomes a consideration.  A consideration develops in to an attitude.  Attitudes lead to actions.  Actions become habits.  A habit establishes a power base for the enemy – which is a stronghold.”  Friends, I see  strongholds everywhere.  In churches, in families, in pastors, and even in my own life.  In 2 Cor. 10:3-5 Paul said the only way to deal with a stronghold was to tear it down.  And we do that with weapons that are mighty through God, which I believe are prayer and the Word of God.  And I would remind you that Peter said in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary  the Devil walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.”  The enemy is real and in these last days he will destroy all he can.  Guard your heart!

Michael Mason Ministries March 2019 Newsletter

Friends, 

A. W. Tozer said, “You supply the grit, God will supply the grace.”  That’s a good word for many of us on the Christian journey.  Reminds me of the Apostle Paul who wrote in Philippians 3:14, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus.”  My motto for the past few years has been, “press on.”  Paul’s pressing on wasn’t easy and most ours won’t be either.  It’ll take grit and determination.  But I have learned what Tozer said is true.  If I supply the grit, God supplies the grace.      

I will be returning to El Salvador next month, April 8-13, and again in November and December.  In April and December I will be teaching seminary classes, and in November I will be helping lead a pastor’s conference.

I am writing another book that I hope to finish by mid summer.  It’ll be titled, Faithful.  I want to run the race set before me faithfully…but Lord knows my heart, I want to finish well, faithful to the one who called me.  

Dawn and I have spoken together at a couple of church events lately.  If you’d be interested in having us share at a couples night or a couples weekend, we would be honored to come.

Thank you for praying… It has been a wonderful beginning to 2019 in ministry.  February and March are already busy too.  But this is more than “busy”… it is blessed.  

I will be returning to El Salvador in April, and again in November and December.  Pray that the details for the trips come together.  In April and December I will be teaching seminary classes, and in November I will be helping lead a pastor’s conference.

Michael Mason January 2019 Newsletter

Friends,  I am grateful for the Lord’s blessing and favor on me, my marriage, and my ministry.  While I like to look back and see what God has done, I am also looking forward to what God is going to do.  I can’t predict all that the new year holds, but I am believing God for open doors of opportunity to preach, minister, and serve.   Dwight Moody said, “Let God have your life, he can do more with it than you can.”  I’m looking forward to seeing what He will do. 

2017 and 2018 were the busiest and most blessed years of my ministry.  What could have been the worst turned out to be the best.  Dawn and I often pray, “Lord we are yours and we are surrendered to go wherever you lead…”  And that’s more than a prayer.  We have decided that we’re not going to be defined by divorce and death – but rather by trusting Him.  Thank you for praying for us.
